Roeland has a succesfull dual career as a soloist and an orchestral musician.
Roeland studied at the Lemmensinstitute in Leuven (Jan Van den Ecker) and at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp (Walter Boeykens). He attended master classes with Wesley Foster (The Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada), Thea King (London) and Charles Neidich (Juilliard School, New York).
He is clarinet-solo at the National Orchestra of Belgium and professor clarinet at the Conservatory of Maastricht, Netherlands.
Roeland performs together with a wide variety of well-known musicians and ensembles, in the context of several series of prestigious concerts. He is also a member of the Flemish ensemble " I Solisti del Vento ".
Roeland Hendrikx is an active soloist. He performed with the Belgian National Orchestra, Prima la Musica, the Beethovenacademie, the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Limburgs Symphonieorkest Maastricht, the Hagen Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany) and with the Symphonic Orchestra of Lithuania.
In 1998, " Het Festival van Vlaanderen - Limburg " declared him a " festival star ". Roeland Hendrikx performs and actively promotes Belgian chamber music for clarinet. In 2001, he even was granted the " Jeanne and Willem Pelemans price 2001 ", rewarding his efforts to promote Belgian Music.
In 2001, his CD " Works for clarinet and string quartet " with works by Reicha, Romberg and Mozart was recorded, with the Belgian Arriaga Quartet. This CD was nominated by the Belgian Classical Radio, Klara, to become "CD of the year 2001 ".
In 1999, he recorded a CD " Sonates for clarinet and piano " with pianist Steven Kolacny, featuring works by Copland, Martinu, Saint-Saëns, Poulenc and Tailleferre. Both CD's were released by the " De Kroon op het Werk " label.
In 2004 he released a Brahms-cd with Jan Michiels (piano) and cellist France Springuel (cello), with the 2 sonatas and the trio for clarinet, cello and piano.
On the latest CD with the Finnish Tempera quartet,he performs the clarinetquintet of Piet Swerts. Phaedra Records 2005.
This cd was "Best Belgian CD of 2006", chosen by the "Society of Belgian Musicpress.
